The Tree People’s constitution is based on community, business, and environmental sustainability.

We unequivocally conduct business in ways that are beneficial for the trees, the people, and the planet. This distinguishes and differentiates us from similar companies and guides all our actions.

We are nationally renowned for our passion for the environment, and our commitment to the highest standards of arboricultural work. This expertise is trusted by Government departments to undertake work in highly sensitive environmental areas, and we are proud to have the technical arboricultural excellence to thrive in difficult environments.

We pride ourselves in being leaders and innovators in sustainable vegetation management. We have a proven track record in waste mitigation, and have created clear guidelines, and goals to become carbon neutral.

We are proud to pay the Living Wage, as a minimum, to employees to ensure that they and their families can pay for the basic necessities of life and participate as active citizens in the community. 100% of The Tree People’s employees get paid a living wage and 100% of employees are full time.

The Tree People’s central ethos is minimal environmental impact on all work sites:

  • All our vehicles are powered by biodiesel.
  • We use minimal compaction machinery when required e.g. machinery running on tracks.
  • Biodegradable chain lubricant is used on all our chainsaws.
  • Silt traps are used to prevent runoff during work.
  • We minimise noise pollution at every opportunity, using electric chainsaws and sound insulated chippers.
  • We are a national leader in tree transplanting, completing 150 transplants per year.
  • We use GIS tree mapping software with client login functionality to help us accurately manage green assets in real-time. We use Fulcrum, which is used by several Christchurch City Council departments.
  • We have planted 180,000 trees over the last three years as part of our commitment to positive environmental outcomes.
